The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is one of largest departments in MIT. Started in 1985, the department has grown in size and now has an intake of 135 students per year. MIT was one of the first colleges in the state to get computing facilities. So, it is not surprising that the college has invested considerable resources for computers. In addition, the Computer Engineering department has 6 labs and a computer center. Besides offering an under graduate course, the department also offers an M.Tech course and also runs special computer courses.

The students of the department have been the first to be selected by companies during the placement drives. Even in quantitative terms the form the bulk of the students who are placed in jobs.
The students of Computer Engineering under the aegis of Computer Society Of India have distinguished themselves by regularly winning national level competitions, which are organized in the area.
